Owl pendant

Happy Valentine's day! To those who celebrate :) we don't,. or, some people in Denmark probably do, but I think the majority don't - including me.

My most recent charm was this owl pendant. The branch forms half a heart - thought that was a cute way of doing it. - The tutorial can be found on my YouTube if you're interested :)

I was going to post JUST non-food related things this week, but I think I can squeeze in a food tutorial today, right? I just realized I probably should post the second 'japanese' themed tutorial, because it's been almost 2 weeks since I posted the last one... And I've been posting 3 days in a row now, so I don't think anyone can complain haha. I know some of my viewers have been waiting for the taiyaki and miso soup.

Been ordering quite a few materials online these days, so I'm excited to see how many of the packages that have arrived while I've been gone (going back home Sunday).
One of the things I ordered was a bottle of the swellegant metal coatings/paints - anyone has experience with those? I just randomly saw them online and thought they'd be cool to play around with.. Also got a couple of bottles of alcohol ink which I haven't used before either.

Better start editing the tutorial for today then.. :)

A little of everything

A little of everything, I guess. Bread, cookies, radishes, peaches and a roast beef.
I was searching through pinterest again - wish I could find some 'Classic, oldfashioned cakes', but whenever you search for cakes on there you get pictures of fancy party and wedding cakes! will see if I can find the names for some oldfashioned cakes online and make my search more targeted towards certain ones.

My package from Jewellerymaker UK arrived.. Must say, I was rather disappointed with the swellegant silver paint. The look is okay, and I bet they're fun to play with if you're interested in using the different patinas as well, but I can achieve a better silver effect using different materials.
I'd also ordered some of the "gleams" - gilding wax. They weren't amazing either, very comparable to pearlEx pigments, inka gold etc. They're what I expected, unfortunately. Not saying they're bad! they're lots of fun to use for charms and jewelry and much more. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

I got a steel block and jewelry hammer - not for jewelry making in my case, haha. But I'm excited about those.

All in all I was very pleased with the shipping, their pricing and everything else - would definitely order from there again.
It's neat how they give you some free stuff in your first order; booklets of products for sale, a small "book/booklet" talking about different gemstones (as that is their main focus), a ring sizer and a free dvd. Don't know what's on the dvd, and I'm not really interested in finding out, but it's still neat :)

Tiny treats from polymer clay

I was playing around a bit, making a croissant and a muffin/cupcake in,.. well, I really don't know what the scale is for these haha.
The ruler in the background shows cm/mm

Didn't take very long, I was just having fun making something a little different. Will be posting a video on YouTube, but I'm not sure how interesting that'll be, so if people hate it too much I can always take it down :)

Gemstone shopping & minis

Lately I've been hooked on watching the livestream on 'jewellerymaker.com' - usually Watch it through YouTube, while I'm crafting.
It's this UK show where they sell gemstones, beads, findings and all sorts of other things for jewelry making. I find it interesting, and I did order a few supplies for my polymer clay (mentioned that in a post close to 2 weeks ago),. Haven't felt the need to getting my hands on any of the beads/gemstones,.. until now..
I maaaay have ordered a couple of strands, haha. I thought; ''well, I've spent money on worse things than this'',... and I could make a pair of earrings for my mom with amethyst (her, and my, birthstone). Plus, I could even make a few necklaces or something like that for my Etsy shop.. It's not like each gem on the strands has a huge value when looked at individually, but it'd be nice to be able to incorporate some "quality bling" instead of using regular acrylic/glass beads.
Hopefulle they'll arrive later this week - can post pictures of the ones I got.

Anyway - I made ham.. And pears! :)

I have no idea why I chose to make the odd 'curvy' shape for this cutting board, but I like it.

First order of gems

First order of gemstones arrived. There was a problem with the package I'd ACTUALLY ordered (some wrong card information) - So I had that order cancelled and ordered some different things. Some of these are the same as in the first order, some of them are different as they weren't all still available, yadayada and so forth... anyway - I ordered 2 new packages and the first one arrived today, that's what I'm trying to say! :)
 8 beautiful strands;

Very happy with the strands! Can't wait to use them in some pieces. I love the cracked pattern in the agates (strand #1 from the left), and already have ideas for some of the aquamarines (strand #2), white pearls (strand #3) and the pink amathysts (strand #5).
Crossing my fingers that the second package arrives tomorrow so that I can really begin brainstorming which types of pieces I want to make first... I really love these! so many options!

Hopefully I'll be able to add a couple of listings to my Etsy by the end of next week

Mermaid

I've been working on a few pieces for my Etsy shop.
The first thing I thought of when I received those aquamarine faceted drops in the mail was Mermaids, so I've made a couple of ocean themed pendants. This is one of them :)

The tutorial for this will be up on my YouTube today.

I colored this mermaid with silver and blue mica powder, added some antique-ness and patina and finished with matte+satin glaze.

looking forward to getting my last strands from jewellerymaker - I ordered a few more, including some tanzanite (small nuggets and drop shapes) and some tiny sapphire rondelles - saphire is my personal favorite gemstone, so hopefully I'll be able to make some beautiful pieces using some of those.

Back on Etsy!

Usually I'll add some 1:12 scale miniature to my Etsy shop when I come back from the fairs - and I will be adding some, in the beginning of May.
But I'm working on some charms for my Etsy at the moment - a couple of them have been listed. The Mermaid has already been sold, but I still wanted to post a picture of the finished necklace.

I added a faceted aquamarine to the seahorse - from the aquamarine strand I showed you in a different post.

I personally love the flower necklaces - they're rather 'muted' in color, which together with the antique gold mica powder I added, gives them a aged look. In the center of each flower I added a couple of color change garnet - from JM like the other gemstones I ordered.

I've made some more pieces for my etsy :)
https://www.etsy.com/dk-en/shop/SugarCharmShop?ref=si_shop

I chose to spend a week, focusing on charms instead of 1:12 scale miniatures. This upcoming week will be a mix. I want to make some more charms, but I need to make some more miniatures for the Farum fair! and I really should record some more food tutorials for my YouTube as well.

Here are 3 items I listed today;

Mermaid necklace & miniatures

A few more Pictures :) First ones are of a necklace I made (The video will be up on my YouTube later today, and the necklace itself has been listed in my Etsy shop).
I made the cameo and frame from polymer clay and handpainted the girl/mermaid. I decorated the frame with some small aquamarine nuggets, and attached 2 drops of aquamarine to the chain as well.

I also finished and photographed some more miniatures for the fair :)

Gothic dolls

I love old porcelain dolls - and I love things with a gothic feel. I made these 3 pendants, also for my Etsy. Am planning on making more designs because I really like the style!

My personal favorite is the third one - I named it 'Together forever'.. cute, huh? :)

These particular ones won't be up as youtube videos, but I might record the next one I make. I love the process - much like the mermaid pendant, I start out with a base from black polymer clay. Then bake that and paint the design on top. But for these, once I'm done painting, I use the tip of my knife to scrape off paint to create the cracked effect.

And I'm so excited! - you know that 'jewellerymakerUK' site I've been talking about? I havr the broadcast running pretty much everyday when I'm in my craft room. They have a 'draw' each week where you can enter a design and have a chance of winning 50£ or 100£ credited to your JM account (to buy materials from the site). It's a random draw, so I'm crossing my fingers as much this week as I did last week haha.
Anyway, what I'm excited about is, that each day some of the entries are featured on the show, and they showed my mermaid necklace today !!! =) I was in chok when I saw/heard their reactions, seriously motivating to get such positive feedback.

Peas

I didn't win this weeks Draw on the JM-show, but it's okay! I've already made an octopus pendant to use as my entry this week :)

Today I made peas in pods - for today's tutorial.
Tey're simple to make, but they look sooo cute!

I was inspired by a picture from pinterest. Might actually make another little arrangement similar to this, because I like how they turned out.

There's something beautiful in things this simple looking.

Earrings - without polymer clay..
I've been playing around with gemstones and wire, and not all pieces are equally suitable for combining with polymer clay. You could, but I really like the simplicity here.

Will definitely be making more in this style (And these are of course for my Etsy shop)

The first pair features apatite small nuggets and drops of aquamarine.

Second pair features both rondelles and drops of citrine.

Roast chicken and more earrings

Yesterday's tutorial on YT :) Roast chicken

I also made another pair of earrings - these were made with solid 925 silver hooks as I thought those would be more suitable for using with the pink sapphires.
They're listed in my Etsy shop.

As I'm typing, I'm also waiting for the postman - actually kind of sad, isn't it? I'm expecting packages and I feel like my day can't really begin until after today's mail has arrived.. I can see myself in 50 years, sitting near the window in a rocking chair with narrowed eyes, staring at anyone who dares dressing in red jackets (color of the postman's uniform)..

Anyway - I'm feeling inspired today! both for some miniature food and charm making! Hopefully I'll get to make a few pieces.

Fish n' chips & Satsuma

Yesterday and today I made 2 things that I've been wanting to make for AGES - satsuma/Clementine wedges and fish n' chips.
Let's not talk about the fact that I used a 'new york times' newspaper for one of the most recognized dishes from the UK haha.

I actually don't think I've ever had fish n' chips.. I've had fish sticks, does that count? ;)

Love the tiny Little wedges - approx 4mm. I made some extras to use on cakes :)

My goal is to make (in average) 1 miniature a day up until the fair in May. I know there'll be days I won't make any, but there should be days where I make 2 or 3, so I'm pretty sure I'll do OK.

The miniature satsumas/clementines are being uploaded as a tutorial as I type,
the fish n' chips will most likely be up Tuesday - otherwise later in the week.

More jewelry :)

aaaaand, some more pieces of jewelry :)
I'm really enjoying working with the gemstones and made a few more necklaces for my Etsy
Using other materials than JUST polymer clay has given me so much more options as far as designs go. I never thought I'd be into wirework, but I'm loving it! The necklace in the third picture looks so much better in real life (I think).

Now I'm also able to show you a necklace that was made as a birthday present for Ruth (xoxRufus on YT) as I know it has arrived :)

I earrings with gemstones in matching colors, but I don't have a Picture :/

Got a new hammer in the mail yesterday (for using with wire). The one from JM was ok, but the head was completely flat which made it really difficult to avoid getting marks on the wire when hammering, so I found one on ebay with a slightly domed head - can't wait to using it!

The weather is improving, finally - starting to feel a bit like spring! It's still chilly, but there are moments where you're able to feel the warmth of the sun! - short moments, but still. haha

Okay so it's almost a week since I came home from the fair - pfff, not late at all to show a Picture of my stand haha.
It was so much fun! Also uploaded a video (this past Monday) showing clips from the trip. It can be found on my YouTube channel! :)

And I've made some food jewelry for my Etsy :)

Cupcake/muffin necklace with a green amethyst

And brownie necklace with a champagne colored cultured Pearl :)

More gothic doll necklaces

I've made some more of my gothic, doll inspired necklaces - Like the ones I made last time, these are handpainted on polymer clay. BUT, instead of making the 'frames' for the cameos from clay as well, I've been experimenting with making them out of wire - really loving the look!
I've also added gemstones to them, of course. They can be found in my Etsy shop. Need to make one for myself because I am in love with them!

This first piece includes gemstone chain I made using rose quarts, a drop of pink amethyst and 2 little sapphire rondelles.

Second one also has the rose quartz chain and includes 2 Little drops of Rainbow moonstone as well.

And the third one has iolite (chain and drops).

Metal clay! :)

Oh yeah! I've had my first go at metal clay - or more specifically; art clay silver.
I found out about this wonderful material years ago, but at that time, after reading about it, I had come to the conclusion that you needed a kiln to fire it.. which I don't have.
A few months ago I found out that it can be torch fired (not all of the different types of metal clay can be torch fired), so off to the "internet-shops" I went ;) and tadaaa;
These are my first 2 pendants made from the medium.

The heart was sold yesterday, but I just listed the 'swirl' in my Etsy shop today.
I am still in awe that you can creat .999 fine silver pendants! so many new doors just opened up for me when it comes to brainstorming ideas for jewelry!

I also posted a video on my YouTube which I tried packing full of all the information you need, if you're a beginner at this (like me) and need to figure out which tools you need, how you go about making the jewelry etc.
it's not a tutorial showing the actual process, but I did my best to explain it.
