Happy Holidays!

Haha, Just wanted to share my Christmas card this year. I had to Photoshop 2 individual pictures of the hamsters together (since they can't be near eachother... and definitely not pose at the same time!)

If you haven't seen them before, these are my 2 dwarf hamsters; Jovo on the left (named after Milla Jovovich, and Diesel on the right (named after Vin Diesel, of course).

I finished the Christmas tray :) And a duck! Though I'm still thinking of adding a few things to the tray, I kind of like it with a more 'simple look'

I'm currently working on some figs - not sure how christmasy that is, but I found a gorgeous picture in a polish cookery book, and I just had to make some. I know dried figs are popular at this time of the year, but not sure about fresh ones - maybe some type of pastry ?

Miniature figs :)
I think the last time I made figs was back in 2011, so it was definitely time for an updated version. As I mentioned in another post, I found a beautiful picture in a polish cookery book and had to make some. I'll be using them on different arrangements as decorations. Think it'll look cute.

They're just about 5mm, so they're pretty small - the tutorial can be found on my YT if you're interested.

Hope you all had an amazing Christmas!
I'm counting the days at the moment.. only 2 more weeks left of my time as a 'trainee' in Netto! Can't wait.
I like working there, and the people I work with are awesome, but it's just not something that makes me happy. I don't feel like getting up every morning to go to the store and put the new products/goods in place, and I don't feel like acting nice and helpful when I get the same questions over and over.
It'll be nice to have some more time for making miniatures! :)

Pork roast & t-bone

Made some meat :)
A pork rib roast and a t-bone. Technically, for the steak, I was inspired by a porterhouse,. but I went online to find out the difference, and the way they explained it seemed confusing, so I gave up and call it a t-bone instead - I mean, it has a t-shaped bone!

I do have a tutorial for both the frying pan, carrots and figs on my YouTube channel, and the raw steak will be up today!

Today my dad is coming to visit - we're going to get my Christmas pressent. I wished for a 'daylight lamp'. He then did some research and found a different lamp which to me seems more useful. I was planning on using the lamp when filming the progress on my dollhouse as it isn't really lit up that well. The one he found is a lot smaller and more portable which is good. It's LED instead of regular bulbs and you can turn a button to change the brightness of the lights which will come in handy if taking pictures of little mini scenes! especially if you need just a bit of light for an 'night time' scene.

Happy new year! Hope you'll all have a wonderful evening celebrated with your close ones!

I'm not much of a new-year-enthusiast myself, haha. Honestly, I rather want to sit on my couch, watching a movie.. so that's what I'm going to do! :)

I did upload another tutorial yesterday. And if you haven't figured out my upload schedule, I upload every second day.
This tutorial is for a basic pot. I've become so annoyed with the metal pieces and ceramic plates I usually use. I don't even want to use the pots and pans that I have in my drawer of mini kitchenware - they simply look too clumsy or have the wrong measurements! (nobody owns a saucepan/frying pan with handles that long!)

The video for the pot can be found on my YT - click here to watch :)

One of my favorite foods to eat... ribs!
There's nothing like sizzling hot, sweet tasting, barbeque marinaded ribs!

I was going to upload a tutorial for the raw chicken today, but somehow I lost the file! - no idea how it happened. I will be re-recording that tutorial soon, but I wasn't in the mood for making another raw chicken right away, so we'll have to do with a tutorial for spareribs :)

Will be uploaded to my youtube channel (SugarCharmShop) later today.

It's cold and rainy here these days - real danish winter-ish weather.. Though fall and Winter are my favorite seasons, I'm looking forward to the warmer months. I miss being able to running around without a coat!

Yes, fast food!
I've been in a fast food making mood lately, and am planning on doing more pieces!

So far I've made some McDonald's and KFC inspired pieces, and they're up on my YouTube as tutorials, if you're interested; https://www.youtube.com/user/SugarCharmShop

Also made a new YT channel for mixed crafts - there's only 1 tutorial up so far, but I have a few that are ready to be edited and tons of ideas!; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCehkUnsoTlHlFJ8FEYCz4nA

It's a bit modern for my personal taste when it comes to dollhouses, but hey, it looks cute!

Lasaga

I've been working on some new 'cooking trays/dishes'. I had some that looked a lot like this - ceramic though, and White. Been saving them for so long, because I only had a couple and didn't want to waste them... But as I've mentioned in a different post, I've become rather tired of the 'chunky' look a lot of the miniature ceramics have, and I don't even like them that much anymore. They're nice, but they're just not my style - might bring some of my unused ceramics to the next fair to sell.

But I made this dish of lasagna - the tutorial can be found on my YouTube. Also have a tutorial for making plates (like the one in the Picture).

The dish will be up as tutorial soon,. as soon as I figure out what else to put in that video. Hopefully today or tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying the fact that I don't have to get up and go work at the supermarket anymore - did I mention that my last day was the 7th of January? probably. It's an odd feeling being able to spend your entire day doing what you'd usually do in your 'freetime'.. But I'm not complaining.

Hoping on getting some more miniatures done today! - I've realized that we're approaching the date for the Farum fair rapidly, and I'm nowhere near done!

1:12 strawberries and raspberries

This is what I ended up spending part of my day making - tiny berries.
The raspberries are approx 1,7mm

The strawberries are going to be posted tomorrow as a tutorial on my youtube! :) - already have a raspberry tutorial.

I need to make a bunch more of these though, because I have a couple of mini-ideas. Found some beautiful pictures of food on pinterest.

1:12 Miniature Tableware

Can you tell I've been having fun making plates and dishes?
And this time, instead of just making the plain one colored, smooth plates, I decided to make some with textures and some handpainted details.

I initially just needed a small set for a valentine arrangement on a tray, but ended up making a few more pieces.

Now I just need to make the food to go with them!

I sculpted the little angel figurine on the right last night. Around 11pm I suddenly felt like going back into my craft room just to make that, haha. - Though I'd been in my room most of the day. I thought a figurine like this would look cute together with a couple of other valentine pieces.

Here's a close up Picture of it;

I did record the sculpting process, so it'll be up on my YouTube later this week - Wednesday, I think.

I'ts very cold outside at the moment,. Windy and rainy,.. So I'm just going to stay inside as much as possible. The good news is that now I can make a bunch of minis!
Not at all ready for the Farum fair, but luckily there's still time.. I'd like to start selling on Etsy Again as well - hopefully soon :)

Taco bell & Angel

I made some Taco bell inspired food - as requested by a lot of my viewers on YT. Had to make a slightly more simple version in order for the video not to be too long, so I'm sorry for the lack of detail.
It turned out ok though, I think.

I also arranged the little angel I'd made on a small board together with one of the plates, a cupcake and a rose - simple and cute.

Working on some 'Olive Garden' inspired miniatures as well - for a tutorial of course.
So far I've only made the plates, bowls and some bruschetta. It's fun learning about all the american
restaurants and fast food chains - Need to make subway, burger king and lots of others too!
Not sure how big of a hit it'll be at the danish miniature fairs though, haha

Cleaning,. Again?

This is what my desk looked like, when I walked into my craft room this morning;

Beautiful,. isn't it?... Seriously though, I distinctly remember cleaning it not that long ago! How can something like this happen, when every tool and material has a rightful spot in the room?

Then the mailman came by - with a package.
Some stuff I'd ordered off metalclay.co.uk
I'd ordered a new 'ceramic fibre blanket', siligum, a couple of shades of the baroque art gilder's pastes and,... polymer clay, of course.
Now, the problem was that when I ordered this, I didn't really know which colors I was running low on - but they had (maybe still have) "20% off" on all Fimo products, so of course I had to get some. I chose to get some of the colors I use frequently; translucent, black, yellow, beige etc.

I also got a small package from ebay - the drill bits in the yellow box.
I've been wanting some for a while - would like to do some wood work,.. at some point,.. in the future,.. it's not something I'm planning on starting right this second, but it's nice having the tools on hand when you DO get an idea that just can't wait.

My only birthday wish this year (7th of Feb) is a jigsaw. One that can be attached to the table.
My dad and I found a decently sized hobby-version from Dremel. If I don't get it for my birthday, I'll buy it myself :)

Anyway - Receiving all those packs of clay made me want to reorganize all of my polymer clay. I stored most of my clay in this unit (left). Sorted by colors, but it was still a big mess; When the number of packs of clay started to exceed the limit for what could be squished into the drawers, I put the rest of them into one of my desk drawers.. Time for change!
I went through all my clay,. put misplaced colors back into the right compartments, grabbed all the unopened packs of clay and put them into the top drawer in my desk.
Most of the compartments in the unit are still filled to the edge, but at least there's a system to it.. and take a look at how many unopened packs I ended up with (right) - seems like I didn't need to order new clay in the first place, haha.. God, I have packs of clay that I remember getting back in the beginning of 2012! and who knew I already had 4 packs of translucent,.. no need for the 2 extra ones I ordered... oh well, I guess I could make some more fruit canes.

So instead of crafting - I ended up cleaning my desk. It didn't even take that long, and I still had time to start working on a couple of miniatures.

Valentine's chocolate and tray

$

I'm trying to get som valentine themes miniatures done, though I'm not big on valentine's day. I made this tray - the tutorial for the chocolate box went up on my youtube yesterday :)

I made a whole bunch of those little chocolate, so I'll be making a couple of boxes - not for an arrangement, just for selling on their own.

I do really like how the box turned out. I took some brown-ish, cream colored cardstock and painted everything with watercolors. It gives a nice soft look, I think.

Right now I'm making shrimps! I uploaded the video already (a few minutes ago), but I still need to make a bunch more to use for all kinds of mini projects. I have a love-hate relation ship when it comes to making shrimps,. It's tedious! but at the same time so simple..

Then again, I've never taken the time to make a shrimp that I was actually a 100% happy with, because they're not that interesting to make.

Was hoping to get some seafood done tomorrow; fish on cutting boards - one of my favorite things to make :)

Bass on newspaper

I've been wanting newspaper-sheets in miniature for so long! It's stupid - I've been wanting some for different miniature projects in all the time I've been doing minis, and I just never sat down and took the time to actually print some. Why? I really don't know, it takes a few minutes to go on Google, find a page from a newspaper and print it,. og well - I made a sea bass :)

I chose "the London Chronicle" for my newspaper haha. Was originally looking for the 'the new York times', but all the "pretty" pages had either odd looking pictures that took up too much space or headlines about wars etc.

I was trying to be productive today - made a few small pieces for asian themed arrangements. Will finish those tomorrow :) Need to make some small bowls of rice to go with them, but I made ramen, noodles and spring rolls with rice.

Shopping for books

I was walking around in a few stores today, with my boyfriend, and we walked into a bookstore. He read a title out loud, and I don't know why I chose to stop.
Usually I'm looking for cookery books,. for cooking of course,. ehem, in miniature,... But this one was not about cooking, it was called 'Authentic and charming top hotels". It was even half off! bet they hadn't been able to sell it. Lot's of gorgeous pictures - it's mainly Pictures, and I figured it'd be good as inspiration when I'm going to throw myself into some miniature furniture making. Of course I bought it!

Anyway - one thing led to another, and now I'm sitting here, looking for books on ebay about antique furniture, porcelain etc. Will do my best to limit myself!

I'm shopping at the UK ebay, hoping that they'll arrive faster, haha. Sometimes those 1½-2 weeks it takes to arrive from the US/China etc. feels like a long time.

If any of you happen to know of some book titles I should check out, please do let me know.

Didn't quite finish the japanese themed miniatures I was working on yesterday - still need to make some taiyaki and 1-2 other desserts/pastries. But I'm working on it! I think they're going to turn out nice. So far I'm pleased with the results.
Got some great suggestions for desserts on instagram, so I'll continue working on them tomorrow.

I also have to clean my desk again - can you believe it?! it's been, what, a few days or a week, and it's at least as messy as the picture I showed you!
Think I might need to dedicate my entire Sunday to cleaning - REALLY cleaning! everything within the craft room! - actually bought a couple of small shelves today, to store paints on.. that's a start, right? ;)

Entries from my YT contest

List of the entries for my contest on YouTube

If you entered, please read;
I've been going through the entries 1 by 1, and of course I could've made a mistake. Did you make an entry and your name is not on the list? are you sure you followed all rules? then please let me know and I'll rewatch the entry! but please note:
Some of you have made entries that unfortunately were not accepted - some entries included individual pieces that were not in an arrangement, and I'm sorry, but you had to make 1 arrangement that included at least 3 pieces inspired by my tutorials. It had to be uploaded as a video/slideshow to youtube - not on instagram or any other site.

There were a couple of entries that were accepted even though the pieces were not put onto a board/table/tray etc. but only because they'd been arranged nicely as if they'd been on a tray. Some of you had made the arrangements on a piece of fabric, paper etc. that's ok!
I also accepted a couple of entries where people were showing idividual pieces where at least 1 of them counted as an arrangement icluding all 3 pieces. (eg. individual slice of cake,. individual sandwich,. and then a tray that included both croissants, pain au chocolate and a plate). I understand that not everyone had a 'tray/board' to put it on, but not all 'individual/Loose pieces' have been accepted.

Entries that were posted after the 24th of January (25th and after) will not be accepted.
I had put an annotation in the video correcting the spelling mistake that originally said February. The rules in the info box also said January, so I'm terribly sorry if you (I know mobile devices do not show annotations) thought it ended later.

There were also a lot of people who'd commented on the contest video, saying they'd entered,. but there were no videos on their channel or no videos in relation to the contest. Those entries were not accepted either.

If there's doubt whether or not you followed all rules, I will decide whether or not the entry will be accepted.

Once that's said, thank you SO much to everyone who entered! I'm seriously impressed! I saw everything from gory setups, handsculpted 'wooden trays' and beautifully set tables to an entire picnic scene and gorgeous baking scenes.
You Guys are so creative!! Truely recommend everyone to check out the different entries!
I got so many entries - more than what I'd imagined, so I'm sorry for not commenting on each one. I really do appreciate the Work you've put into your entries, and I hope that this list/post will get them some views <3

The winner will be announced in my YT tutorial the 5th of February.
Thank you so, so much for entering, I'm sorry for the delay - but as you can see, there were a lot of entries! <3

Japanese food and pomegranates

$

I never showed you the pictures of the little japanese themed arrangements I made, but here they are. I made 3. 2 of them being quite simple.

So there's noodles, ramen, miso Soup, spring rolls, taiyaki and a couple of small accessories :)

And then I couldn't quite decide what to work on next, so I made a couple of pomegranates.. When I say a couple, I mean a couple! as in the 2 you see on this Little cutting board. I'll see if I can motivate myself enough to make a few more.

AND - I've even done some cleaning, haha! I got my boyfriend to hand a couple of small shelves near my desk - wanted to put all my acrylic paints on there, so I can see the different colors better. Worked out nicely, and the wooden shelves/wine boxes/shoe racks I have standing on my desk now holds a lot more tools instead - which gave me a bit more space on my desk.
Already thinking of getting some more screws in the walls to hang stuff on! let's see what my boyfriend thinks of the idea ;)
he'd just hung the shelves yesterday and put the drill back into place when I said "oh! can you put 5 more screws in the wall please?!"... He did do it, but as he said to me; I could've asked him while he had the power drill unpacked!

Summertime!!,. in a few months

I've been focusing on a couple of summer looking miniatures - fruit :)
Made some cherries - I saw this gorgeous picture on instagram with a bowl (White with a blue trim) full of cherries, standing on a piece of denim on top of a very dark wooden board of some sort (couldn't see much of the board in the Photo). I've also found a picture of some apples - in a bowl that looks more like the one I made for the cherries, just larger. Might make apples soon.

I tried filing the board to look sort of like a drift wood type cutting board - don't know if I succeeded at it, but I like the style a lot!
Also made a few simple peaches - am doing my very best, trying not to put everything onto cutting boards!

And - I did get a few more pomegranates done! *Applause*

I'm heading off to the craft room now - it's almost 10pm but hey, when you're feeling inspired, you shouldn't worry about the time! ;)

Prime rib roast - and some pieces of chicken on a pan

Just a couple of new things - had to make new lemon slices, so I made a couple of lemons as well.. Those aren't quite done yet though, so you'll have to do with these 2 pictures for now.

It's my birthday today! :) So it's going to be a super quick post. Don't have any plans, but I'm going to watch some TV with my boyfriend.
He's going to be an intern at an Engineering company. 20 weeks!. He's been gone the first week now and came back today (just for the weekend,. to get more clothes I think). He won't be coming home every weekend.

I'll be at my parents house this coming week - did I say that already?
A minor problem,. I'm expecting a package from jewellerymaker, and I don't know if it's going to be delivered with some sort of carrier other than the normal postman. If so, I'm afraid they'll have a shorter time frame for redeeming the package if I'm not at home.

The 2 first books about furniture arrived today, So I'll bring those to my parents house and decide on what is going to be my first project.. Something simple for sure! I'm not planning on making any complicated pieces of furniture.

At my parents house

I'm at my parents' house this week, and even though I planned on not bringing any craft supplies, I did end up packing a few things.. not enough to make miniature!, just enough to make a few charms for my YouTube channel.
I brought some clay, acrylic paints, pearlEx pigments, some of my most used sculpting tools and glaze. All "neatly" stored, or thrown into, this stackable container I got at a local fabric/sewing supply shop.

Of course I also brought my Efcolor stove to bake the charms in,. and my pasta machine! I'm very proud of myself for not bringing my entire room ;)

I'm sleeping in my old room, so it's not my usual setup for crafting, but it works. moved a few things away from the desk and tadaa!
That black block of foam you can see in the picture - the one holding all of my tools is apparently a display that helt tweezers (my mom brought it home from work,.. don't know why) - it works great as a tool stand though!

The trip from where I live and to my parents' house is approx 3 hours. They came and picked me up Sunday and drove me all the way. Usually I travel by train, BUT, I had to bring my 2 dwarf hamsters and their 2 large cages because they can't stay at home for a week with no one to change their food and water.. well,. we arrived, and the first thing that suddenly popped into my head was; "I FORGOT MY LAPTOP!". Call me addicted, but I can't do without my labtop for a week, and definitely not when I have to edit and upload videos!. My dad was kind enough to take with me on that 6 hour trip the next day just to get the computer.. Felt really bad about it, but I do appreciate it - would've taken at least another hour if I were to travel back and forth by train.

The latest charm I posted on YouTube was this one; Elsa from Frozen.

And now I've made a cute Little Hatsune Miku inspired charm that'll be up on YT later today;
